Red Priest

Hello

As Red Priest takes a summer break after a hectic few months of touring…

… It’s Piers Adams here with an exciting announcement about my new CD!

The album is called Bach Side of the Moon – Baroque Adagios Reimagined, and is now available in the Red Priest shop prior to its official launch in September.

This CD is very personal to me as the realisation of a 30-year ambition to combine the most sublime and moving baroque adagios with modern synthesiser technology – an idea I first had in the late 1980s as I developed an interest in ambient ‘new-age’ music alongside my love of the baroque.   A fortuitous meeting with synth sound-artist Larry Lush inspired me finally to realise the dream, and I am very proud of the result which places recorder-led melodies by Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, Albinoni, Purcell, Gluck and Sammartini in evocative, ever-changing digital soundscapes. I hope you will find it a deeply relaxing complement to the high-octane energy of Red Priest – and the frenetic pace of modern life.   A free download of the album's opening track is available through the link at the bottom of this message.

And whilst we’re talking new recordings…

At the other end of the energy spectrum is the new CD Natural Selection from the Dodo Street Band – the brainchild of my Red Priest cohort, violinist Adam Summerhayes, featuring, alongside Adam and myself, Irish Bodran master Cormac Byrne, accordion virtuoso Murray Grainger and supreme bassist Malcolm Creese (once described by John Dankworth as ‘the very best in his price bracket’) in a ridiculous but joyful frenzy of Celtic, klezmer and gypsy styles… Released in April, the album has already received several rave reviews, and can be purchased here (click on the image):

That’s all for now – I hope you enjoy the new albums.  Please do tell your friends and share the videos too – you are crucial to the success of our projects in these days of viral marketing!

With warm summer wishes

Piers Adams
